I know I've made fun of this house before and their 20 open houses with only one minor price drop - but does anyone want to venture a guess for me about just why their tax assessment has dropped so far.
2008 $782,320
2009 $657,290
2010 $577,980
Asking price: $779k
Also, what is "VECTORS" listed on their tax record on the structure size page?
The tax assessment went down a little over 25% from 2006-2010. This may be a little more than normal, but I don't find it surprisingly large. I think it is just a little uncommon for the house to be flat 06-08, which makes the 08-10 drop look a little bigger.
I guess most of the Oakton houses we've looked at have dropped from $7xx to $6xx, so it was surprising to me to see this one at $577. My wife hated the yard for that house when we saw it months ago so it's off our list.
housebuyer,
I think many Fx County tax assessments were flat 06-08. The tax assessors only started lowering assessments when people protested. My Dad protested his assessment in 2008 because that year's assessment was the same as the 2006 and 2007 assessments. He only got a small reduction, but the County dropped my parent's assessment 20% the following year along with most of their neighborhood. That tax assessment pattern for the Oakton house seems pretty normal to me.
