Ok, so I got this flyer in the mail today from a new home development [snowdenbridge] that is touting sub $200k single family homes; in house below rate financing, guaranteed 24 months lease of your existing home; no payments for 12 months; they'll pay closing AND they'll lease you a new PRIUS for 2 years. The catch is it is 66 miles from Tyson's corner and about 83 miles from Washington DC.
I like the bathroom in this one. Is the shower stall smoked or darker glass? Doesn't look clear, could be the lighting in the room with the door blocking.
The price keeps getting better!

Seminary is a pretty busy road, isn't it?
Here's another 'new' (i.e. teardown) that just came on the market. I used to go running past it last summer, and back then it looked like they had abandoned the work. I guess they put in a last push and finished it this spring
It was purchased in 2005, so they've been working on (or at least carrying) it for a long time.
Personally, if I'm spending that amount of money, I don't want a house fronting Jermantown/Blake.

Hey Wayne- isn't Snowdenbridge in Winchester?
my Mom is moving out there (renting) since she retired last Month from the Midwest..(likes it cause less stress/traffic than NoVa plus way CHEAPER!)
her RE agent told her that by August Winchester would be a "mess" with foreclosures.
- the gas prices are killing the commuters that work in NoVa/DC and they can't give away the houses out there so owners are walking away in droves..
It's nice that K Hov ( I think that's the Builder at Snowdenbridge?)will get your existing home leased for you to put off the agony for 2 years - sure hope the tenants don't trash the place!!
the flyer I got is from Brookfield Homes...But Khov might have homes there too. I just thought it was funny that I get a mailer from a new home community with a large graphic of a Toyota Prius on the front. I didn't even have to look at the address to come to the conclusion "this place must be waaaaay out in the sticks" I'm not passing judgement or anything, I just thought it was interesting...
Ann Page really has an interesting marketing strategy:

I'm an alumnus of a group that requires people to work in the DC area for a minimum of two years. Anybody got any good links for area rentals?
A little light-hearted reading for the posters here to enjoy as they ponder the significant changes coming to the Washington area.

Chad McCann, 33, in town with buddies to visit Arlington National Cemetery, the Capitol and the Vietnam Veterans Memorial, paused to watch. "I'm from Louisiana, and you don't see many elephants standing in the street there," he said.
sobering thought:
"Houses in Naples, Fla., lost 18.7 percent last year, but are still up a net 61 percent over the past five years. In Riverside-San Bernadino, Calif., houses lost 13.8 percent last year, but are still up by a net 71.5 percent since 2003. In metropolitan Washington, houses lost an average 5.1 percent last year, but have gained a net 68 percent over the past five years.
