Thieving at Open Houses

We attended an open house a few weeks ago. I wondered why the real estate agent was so paranoid about everyone who was coming in. Her constant attendance of us was a nuisance, but now I think I understand:

"A Leesburg woman posed as a home buyer at dozens of open houses in Loudoun County and stole items, including prescription drugs, jewelry and firearms, from four of them while real estate agents were elsewhere in the homes, law-enforcement officials said yesterday".

Very scary.

I also heard an NPR report about 'clients' raping real estate agents, and the precautions they go through to try and prevent it.

Taking strangers through vacant houses never sounded less attractive as a career choice.

She mostly came back at later when no one was home to rob further after securing say a garage door opener.

Most real estate ladies are still using pictures when they were 30 and are really 55, and strung out on cigarettes and alcohol.

i have heard that open houses do nothing to sell houses, and I believe it, i have owned 4 homes, and each time open houses have brought no biz. the truth is the open house is for the realtor to meet your neighbors to try to get them to sign up and sell.

Did you know that you can be a Realtor and a Felon? Yeah, Broker Shawn Harris wrote about it on her blog. She was pissed.

Also there is a funny Youtube video showing a Realtor stealing stuff (supposedly) caught by the nanny cam.
