Pearstein's article echoes what many have been saying here and at Bubble Meter for a while yet. Employment is starting to weaken, and the DC area will not be immune. The DC area real estate correction is now moving inside the beltway, as reflected by increased months' supply. Look for credit to continue to tighten, and layoffs at law firms, lobbying firms, and defense contractors. Those million dollar homes in Cherrydale and Beverly Hills won't be so easy to sell. To those who retain the smug notion that it can't happen here: you've been sufficiently warned.
