Harriet, when you look through previous sales on places like Zillow, i'm seeing more and more of these $10 prices... is this something new or some old school scam to try to cover up what they sold for?
Seems desparate as you can pretty much get the sales history for any property beyond the last sale.

Try checking the Zillow data with the county database data (the links are at the bottom right-hand column of this blog's front page).
I wonder if the county databases will show a sales price of "0", in which case it was likely a refinance.
